DC Pride 5k

As much as I love running, I haven't been spending much time with it as of late.  So when a friend offered up her 5k bib for me to run the DC Front Runners Pride Run 5K, I figured it would be a good way to re-start my running spirit.

6:13 pm,
The race started at the Historical Congressional Cemetery, which I had never been to before.  It was a beautiful burial ground, and I found out later that it also serves as an important site of honor for gay servicemembers.

6:51 pm,
From the gates, we headed through the cemetery to the start line.

6:52 pm,
I'm always excited to be a part of events which include people from so many walks of life.  From members of the LBGTQ community to allies <3.  I didn't get a pic, but my favorite participant was a woman who ran past with an "I Love my Gay Daughter" t-shirt on.  She literally smiled the whole race.

6:58 pm,
The info warned that the race would start promptly at 7:00 pm.  This is my ready stance.

7:04 pm,
And we're off!

7:18 pm,
Our only water stop was manned by Speedos.  Smiling speedos.  Good times.

7:26 pm,
Since I was unconcerned about time, I stopped and took pics along the way. This is the RFK stadium as dusk hit.
